Vastu is a Sanskrit word meaning "the science of architectures." It is a traditional theory of architecture that guides the design and construction of buildings in harmony with the natural laws of the universe. It is also commonly known as Vaastu, Vasthu, Vaasthu and in the eastern region (Kolkata) as Bastu Bid.
Vastu shastra says that if the structure of your house is so designed that the positive forces over ride the negative forces then there is a beneficial release of bioenergy, which helps you and your family members to live a happy and healthy life.
Vastu Shastra is an ancient method of living harmoniously with the Nature. It is an art, which takes care of space, elements, energy, direction, shape, size, position, environment, clothes, utility of space etc. This knowledge which has come to us from the ‘Vedas’, ‘Sthapatya Veda’, a part of the ‘Atharva Veda’, the sacred text of Hindus and is believed to be around 4 to 5 thousand years old.
Vastu Shastra is a very old Indian science of Architecture. Ancient Indian sages and rishis created Vastu Shastra for the welfare of the entire humanity. Its knowledge enables us to get benefits of mental peace, health, wealth etc. and make our life happy.
This science, after propounding the rules of construction, goes to prove that by constructing properly our buildings, villages, towns, cities, shops, offices, factories and industries we can make ourselves prosperous.
We can certainly say that if a building is not constructed on the rules and principles of vastu shastra then the thinking and action of people inhabiting or working in these buildings is not harmonious and progressive. Dwelling in a building which is not according to vastu shastra principles can lead to loss of money, physical illness or disorder and in some cases untimely death of inhabitant or some near and dear ones.
On the other hand if the building follows principles of vastu then all Divine Powers help and support people’s positive thinking and progressive actions.
Many factors govern the life of a human being; his fate, karma and vastu of the place where he lives and work. Apart from karma of a person, fate and vastu affects life’s quality. If the vastu is poor but the fate of a person is good then results obtained can range from poor to mediocre; where as if the vastu is good and fate is unfavorable then the ill effects are minuscule.
