Different types of Doshas


Doshas and remedies are the part of vedic astrology and has been practiced since the inception of vedic astrology. Vedic astrology doshas occur when in horoscope or kundali the position of the planets are not favorable. A planetary period is known as the Dasha in Vedic Astrology. Dosha is a Sanskrit word that means flaw, danger or unfavorable. According to vedic astrology if the malefic planets like Rahu, Ketu, Mars etc are present in certain houses that can ruin the positive affects of the horoscope.


CHANDRA DOSHA

This dosha affects relationships of the person with the others around him. Unfavourablility of moon god causes various kinds of physical pains and diseases like mental tensions and diseases of breath. He is pleased if one fasts on Monday, or if one eulogizes and worship lord Shiva. He is also pleased if a person wears pearls.

Chandra Dosha Mala is designed to promote unity and harmony. Mala made with Gauri Shankar rudraksha in the centre supported by 2 beads each of 2 mukhis on the sides . Gems used are pearls with silver spacers. One side of Moon is darkness when it wanes, then brightness when it waxes. Gauri Shankar and pearls helps to balance waxes and wanes of emotions. 2 mukhi Ardhanareshwar rudraksha blesses the wearer with ‘UNITY’. It could be related to Guru-Shishya, parents-children, husband-wife or friends. Maintaining ONENESS is its peculiarity.


SHANI DOSHA

According to the astrology if the Saturn pierces and passes through the constellation of Rohini then it is considered to be very inauspicious and causes draughts for twelve years making even the survival of the living beings impossible. Saturn remains in each of the twelve zodiacs for thirty months.

In Vedic astrology the planet Saturn is called Shanaiswara. In Sanskrit Shanaiswara comes from SANISCHARA, which means, “slow mover”. From Shanaiswara we get the word “shun”, which means to ignore, or lose awareness of something. Thus, Saturn represents a loss of awareness, or ignorance. This loss of awareness can also mean the diminishing awareness of the material world of manifestation.


KALSARP DOSHA

Though our ancient Vedic astrology does not mention Kalsarpa dosha yet it is to be afraid by all. Kaalsarpa dosha, means, kal is death and sarpa is snake. Kalsarpa dosha in Indian astrology happens when all the planets are to one side of Rahu and Ketu. The strength of Kalsarpa dosha upsurges when all the planets come within the arc from Rahu to ketu. Bad luck and obstacles in the progress are the results of Kalsarpa dosha. There are 12 types of Kalsarpa doshas which are Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhapal, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Karkataka, Shankhanaad, Patak, Vishakata and Sheshanag. These Vedic astrology doshas are named after the name of the snakes.


NADI DOSHA

Nadi dosha occurs when people with similar nadi get married. Nadi is one of the eight features that are considered while examination your compatibility matches with your partner. The facts assigned to nadi are 8 which are the maximum. Your children will be weak if you have nadi dosh in your horoscope. So it must be taken seriously.


SHRAPIT DOSHA OR SHRAPIT YOGA

Shrapit means the one who has been cursed. Shrapit dosha occurs when both Saturn and Rahu are present in the same house in your horoscope. It happens because of the wrong deeds that you have done in your past life. Because of Shrapit doshas in your chart you will not get the good result even if your present birth chart is viewing good combinations of the planets. Unlike Kalsarpa dosha there is no roots of Shrapit yoga in ancient astrology. When Rahu and Saturn come together are called Nagmani that is considered good. Person with this combination will have lots of black money.


PITRA DOSHA

If our ancestors have done something bad then we can suffer from Pitra dosha or Paitrik dosha. It is because of the position of Saturn and Rahu that pitra dosha in the category of Indian astrology doshas occur. Sun according to Vedic astrology is the father and Moon is the mother whereas Rahu and Saturn are the enemies of these two. So if Sun,Moon, Rahu and Saturn are in same house then pitra dosha occurs. You will not progress of anything because of this dosha.


MANGLIC DOSHA/ MANGAL DOSHA

Manglik dosha in Indian astrology occurs when the position of planet mars in 1, 4, 7, 8,12 house. So if the planet mars is present in any of these five houses it is going to cause manglik dosha or kuja dosha. Some astrologers also consider the dosha if the mars is in 2nd house. 50% of the people have this dosha in their birth chart. The biggest misconception regarding manglik dosha in vedic astrology is the death of the spouse if one suffers from manglik dosha. It does not happen in every case. This happens when other bad combinations of the planets are also there in your chart. Manglik doshas in vedic astrology is not there if mars is present in its own house. Even if your 9th house has strong benefic planet then the effect of mars placed in 7th and 8th house are canceled.
